Renters don’t always have an easy time finding a suitable property to cater for their individual professional and lifestyle requirements. Arduously searching property portals to not much avail might be a thing of the past, thanks to an app launched by The Urban Collective.
The Urban Collective’s new property search app UrbanCo was created by husband and wife team Mayank Mathus and Valerie Vigouroux, inspired by the couple’s uninspiring experience trying to find a place to rent in north London.
The app is designed to make the process of searching for rental property more seamless, efficient and effective.
By enabling collaborative link sharing, images, comments and chat, the app is geared towards renters looking to tenant a property in groups, families and couples. Having access to such collaborative sharing tools, groups of renters can find it easier to share potential properties, organise viewings and share feedback from one convenient place.
UrbanCo users can also base their searches for rental property available centred on lifestyle-orientated facilities and features, such as gyms, bars, restaurants, shop, hospitals and transport networks.
Tenants can then identify with ease, which properties are within proximity to the facilities they require.
The UrbanCo app is initially based on properties available to rent in London. However, The Urban Collective plan to roll its listings across the whole of the UK.
The Sherpa service
UrbanCo runs alongside The Urban Collective’s Sherpa service, hailed as Britain’s first ‘enhanced’ letting search experience.
Sherpa provides rental property searchers in London with local experts who carry out searches centred on the user’s lifestyle choices and aspirations. The ‘Sherpa’ sieves through listings, contacts agents, views properties on clients’ behalf and, in some cases, makes a shortlist of suitable properties and shares it with clients to save valuable time.
The proptech company’s founders explained how The Urban Collective’s UrbanCo and Sherpa software is designed to save busy professionals in London time.
“It’s a mix of technology and the human for those busy professionals who don’t have time to do all the legwork themselves,” said Mathur.
“The Sherpa will take care of your needs in a brief, do all the ground research and bring options to you and at the end of the day you make the final choice,” added Vigouroux.
Mathur also spoke of how the property market has significantly changed in the last 20 years and that professionals and business owners are increasingly choosing to rent property or are unable to buy their own home.
Hence the demand for more seamless and efficient ways to find suitable rental accommodation based on lifestyle choices.
