It’s official. Millennials have officially surpassed Baby Boomers as being the largest living generation, according to Pew Research Centre research.

Given the sizeable chunk of the population Millennials uphold, this demographic naturally needs to be targeted by Estate Agents.

So, how do agents successfully reach out to the Millennial generation – those born between the early 1980s and 2000 – many of whom will be looking to buy their first property?

Mobile marketing

Is has to be said that the younger generations are barely seen with a mobile device in their hand. Agents should take note and market their properties and services in a mobile-friendly manner.

As Estate Agents and property professionals can no longer ignore mobile marketing, particularly when reaching out to youngsters, it is vital they create a mobile-responsive website that’s compatible with mobile devices.

Sell an area, not just a property

The age-old property saying ‘location, location, location,’ still bears significance today, especially it seems with millennials. Rather than just focusing on a specific home for sale, put significant effort into selling the area the property is situated.

The younger generation tends to hold in great esteem areas where their friends might live, which have good transportation links, a thriving shopping and nightlife community, somewhere they can carry out their hobbies, and so on. Consequently, areas should be focused on and praised heavily when marketing homes to millennials.

Produce authentic content and inspires youngsters looking for homes

Spending an average of 25 hours per week online, the millennial generation absorbs a lot of online content!

Use this to your benefit by publishing inspiring property-related content that strikes a chord with millennials, whether it’s in blogs, forums, websites or on social media.

Engage young, first-time property buyers with sharable social media postings

Talking about social media, did you know that 88% of millennials get news from Facebook? Social media has become a ubiquitous marketing platform for estate agents in the 21st century and if you want to reach out and excite this generation about potential properties, post exciting, engaging posts that they are likely to read, like and share.

Communicate with millennials the way they want to

Face-to-face meetings and conversations on the telephone are not the younger generations’ preferred method of communication. Take heed agents, and communicate with millennials the way they would like to – namely though the likes of instant messaging, texting and social media.

So, there you have it, five fairly easy ways to reach out, attract, engage and, hopefully, do business with the incredibly online-savvy millennial generation.
